The consumer credit simulation
Why take out a loan?
There is no right or wrong answer to the question "why take out a loan?" Whatever the nature of the borrower, the motivations for having recourse to a loan are specific to each one. Nowadays, however, it is rare to meet people who have not taken out credit at least once in their life. Sometimes, a loan allows you to simply realize a dream like a trip, the purchase of a good like a car. It offers the possibility to whoever subscribes to it to overcome a difficult situation (such as the loss of a job, a car breakdown, the breakage of a property etc.). Finally, many consumers wish to access property (in this case, the consumer will have recourse to a mortgage which is governed by rules different from those which will be specified later). Having recourse to a loan may be necessary to carry out this project or to help you finance the renovation work or simply your daily needs. There is therefore no single solution and a multitude of possibilities explaining the need (or the desire) to take out consumer credit. It is under these conditions that more and more sites offer the possibility of carrying out a consumer credit simulation. This consumer credit simulation will help you select the most appropriate credit for your needs from the wide range of credits offered on the market. You can therefore learn through this article the importance of consumer credit simulation and how to properly use the site offering a consumer credit simulation.
Consumer credit in a few lines ...
Consumer credit is the fact of making available to a natural or legal person, a resource (a good or a source of money, other than a real estate). This person then undertakes to reimburse (or return the property in the case of a rental) over a determined period.
Credit therefore binds a creditor (or lender) who grants property or a sum of money to a borrower (or debtor). Here, the term credit can be synonymous with loan. The borrower will be obliged to repay his debt according to the amortization plan established by the credit agreement. Depreciation is the sum of the capital that the borrower must return at each due date (generally, loan schedules are made on a monthly basis), to repay his debt. The borrower must therefore return the sum that the creditor has granted him, to which is added the remuneration of the creditor which takes the form of interest. The debt will be repaid according to an annuity schedule (often fixed monthly payments, as was specified for the amortization plan).
Several types of consumer credit exist in United States. The most common are personal loans and affiliate loans. Personal credit will allow the consumer to obtain a fund of money to carry out a project without having to provide proof to his creditor. Otherwise, the affiliate credit is reserved for the financing of a specific project. With this type of credit, the consumer will have to be accountable to the organization to which he appeals to obtain the funds. He will therefore have to provide his future creditor with an invoice attesting to the purchase (or, where applicable, the promise to purchase) of the property.
Other credits such as revolving credit are possible in United States. This type of credit provides the borrower with a sum of money that he can use at the rate of his repayments. However, whatever form the consumer credit takes, since the Lagarde law, it must be between 200 and 75,000 US dollars (against 21,500 US dollars previously, below 200 US dollars, consumer protection is different), with a repayment period of more than 3 months. It is important to note in addition that since this law, for small loans (up to 4000 US dollars), the consumer is no longer obliged to open a permanent account within the funding organization. Thanks to this law, for amounts over 1000 US dollars, the consumer has the choice between the creation of a revolving credit or that of a personal loan (a repayable credit).
The many forms of consumer credit, as well as the multitude of financial organizations present on the market do not facilitate decision-making for the future borrower. As a result, sites offering the possibility of performing a consumer credit simulation online often represent a relief for the consumer. A consumer credit simulation can really make it possible to choose the most advantageous credit. However, it is important to know how to correctly use the sites carrying out a consumer credit simulation.
Who can borrow?
To borrow money from a credit institution, the consumer must meet a number of criteria. In addition to being of legal age and having an account in a banking establishment, the consumer must prove stable income. He must also not have a history with the Bank of United States (registration in the National File of Payment Incidents among others). It is the responsibility of the funding body to verify that the consumer is not a bad payer. The consumer who has had a history is currently on file for a period of 5 years (against 10 before the Lagarde law).
In United States, the law protects consumers from over-indebtedness. The consumer code protects the consumer, among other things with regard to the contract (from its conception to its signature). Since July 2010, the consumer has been better protected thanks to the Lagarde law. The creditor must therefore inform the consumer in writing of the offer (specifying all the necessary details). This offer is valid for 15 days, beyond that the creditor will have to reformulate a written offer. In addition, the creditor has a duty to ensure the solvency of his potential customer. The borrower also has a right of withdrawal (this period has been reduced from 7 to 14 days since the Largarde law). Fundraising will therefore only be possible 8 days after signing the contract. Nevertheless, the consumer may if he wishes, by written request (clear and precise), have the withdrawal period lifted to accelerate the provision of funds. In the event that the consumer has received the capital and decides to exercise his right of withdrawal during the legal period in force, he will have to pay in addition to the paid-up capital, interest from the date of fundraising until the date of return of all the capital. It is the lender's responsibility to let the borrower know before March 31 of the current year the sum of the principal, as well as the interest, commissions and any other costs remaining due on December 31 of the previous year. The lender must also inform the borrower of the terms of his commitment, the risks incurred in the event of non-payment of the amount due as well as late penalties if applicable. Finally, the consumer credit subscriber can opt for insurance that covers him in the event of disability, death or job loss.
Where can we borrow?
When the consumer wishes to make a consumer credit, several possibilities will be available to him, which can make the task difficult and perilous. Indeed, there is a large number of organizations offering consumer credit. Finding your way around is sometimes complicated when the consumer is not familiar with the terms of the consumer code.
Thus, it will suffice for the future borrower to type in the Google search bar "consumption credit simulation" or simply "consumer credit" to see that there are today several dozen organizations allowing to carry out a consumer credit simulation. to find the best offer suited to your project. Some sites also allow consumers to make comparisons between different organizations. It is the consumer's responsibility to verify the seriousness of the organization to which he is applying to obtain his credit, as well as to verify whether the site offering the consumer credit simulation does not have a partnership with certain financial organizations. Where appropriate, the offers offered could be incorrect or at least oriented to the benefit of the partners of the site which offers the consumer credit simulation. The consumer will then have to carry out a consumer credit simulation on other sites to ensure the viability of the offer to which he wishes to subscribe. Generally, the partner financial organizations are specified on the hosting site carrying out the consumption credit simulation. The consumer can then go directly to the site to verify the accuracy of the proposed offer.
Thus, when the consumer goes on the internet, he will have the choice between the different sites of banking organizations (LCL, Banque Postale, BNP Paris Bas, Crédit Agricole, Crédit Mutuel, Banque Populaire, CIC, Société Générale, HSBC etc.) but also financing organizations specializing in this type of consumer credit (Sofinco, Cetelem, Cofidis, Cofinoga, Oney, Franfinance, Carrefour Banque etc.) or even consumer credit simulation sites. The consumer also has the choice of going directly through the financing organization to achieve his credit. However, not all establishments have seats, so consumers can have recourse to telephone appointments, which does not always reassure consumers. Indeed, many consumers want to have a physical intermediary. Even if nowadays, this trend tends to disappear in favor of the Internet, older consumers remain loyal to their establishment.
Consumers can find the list of accredited bodies with the exception of establishments falling under Article L 518.1 of the Monetary and Financial Code on the Bank of United States website. As of January 1, 2015, there were 1074 establishments listed: 402 in United States, 22 in the Principality of Monaco and 650 establishments in the EEA operating in United States.
The consumer credit simulation
The steps before performing a consumer credit simulation
Before carrying out a consumer credit simulation, or even a credit request, the consumer must determine his budget according to the project he wishes to carry out. Carrying out quotes and estimates can therefore be a plus for consumers, it will allow them to better set their expectations and needs.
In addition, consumers must estimate their reimbursement capacities according to their purchasing power. The longer the repayment term chosen by the consumer, the lower the monthly repayment installment. However, the APR (Global Effective Annual Rate) will be higher and therefore the cost of credit will be higher. Indeed, the lender takes more risks to lend money over the long term to a borrower. To guard against possible unpaid bills, the establishment increases the costs associated with consumer credit. If the consumer therefore has the impression that a small monthly payment will reduce his budget in the short term, in the long term this will not be the case. It is therefore necessary to carefully study its repayment capacities so that the credit is the least expensive and the most advantageous. Likewise, the risk with small monthly payments is to accumulate consumer loans and to arrive for the consumer in a situation of over-indebtedness. The term over-indebtedness is used when the share of charges linked to the various loans is equal to or greater than 33% of the consumer's total budget. Rather than accumulating small credits weighing on the consumer's budget, it is possible for him to restructure these via the consolidation or the repurchase of credits. In this case, the borrower will contact a financing organization which will allow him to transform his various loans (which he may moreover have taken out in different establishments) into a single debt. The goal here will be to reduce the total monthly payment. The repayment period will nevertheless be extended. Generally it is more advantageous for the consumer to redeem his credits. However, the latter must ensure that this new operation will have a lower cost than the cumulative cost of its old credits. Using the consumer credit simulation tool by trying out different amounts and monthly payments can help you establish the credit that best suits your budget. It should be remembered that the consumer credit simulation is not binding. You can therefore carry out a consumption credit simulation again to establish a budget. The borrower may also consider whether purchasing credit insurance is necessary. Indeed, the cost of the insurance related to it is not negligible, sometimes even it is equal to the amount of the monthly reimbursement of the consumer. When setting up the loan, the lender will offer the consumer to take out this insurance allowing him to protect himself against possible unforeseen events (death, disability, loss of employment). The borrower has the possibility to subscribe to the insurance offered by the creditor, but he is not obliged to do so. The borrower is therefore the only one who can judge his necessity and the risks incurred in the event of non-subscription. The borrower will therefore be aware of the different formulas offered to him and will have to check the situations excluded from these guarantees. Credit insurance is very restrictive. They generally exclude cases of suicide, loss of employment in the case of liberal professions or they provide for a waiting period when the job is lost. The borrower therefore has every interest in taking the time to study the different scenarios that he may encounter. Just as it is possible to perform a consumer credit simulation, the borrower who would like to take out insurance also has the possibility of performing a consumer credit insurance simulation in order to choose the most suitable offer for him. Just like the consumer credit simulation, using this tool to choose your insurance may be wise.
Once the consumer has estimated the desired amount, as well as his repayment capacities, he can then turn to organizations or websites to carry out his consumer credit simulation to find his credit. It is necessary to remember, once again, that a consumer credit simulation carried out on a website is only for information and is not contractual. The consumer credit simulation is free and without obligation, so it allows the future borrower to be able to carry out several simulations and comparisons in complete freedom.
Whatever the consumer credit simulation site chosen, the consumer will find examples of pre-established offers presenting all the necessary information. In this case, he is generally given the opportunity to contact the organization directly to set up a credit offer. In addition, the sites generally offer consumers the possibility of personalizing their credit by carrying out a consumer credit simulation with their own expectations. In this case, the consumer will have in his possession an offer adapted to his needs.
Consumer credit simulation on the websites of banking establishments
Where to carry out your consumer credit simulation? Some banking brands therefore offer consumers the possibility of performing a personal consumption credit simulation on their websites specializing in consumer credit simulation. However, once the best offers have been selected, he will have to contact the organization to set up an appointment and directly define the consumer credit contract he wishes to establish.
Thanks to the examples of offers established by the consumer credit simulation, the consumer will be able to make comparisons. Each offer resulting from the consumer credit simulation will be presented to him, specifying the amount of the desired sum, the duration of the credit contract (i.e. the duration of repayment of his debt to his creditor), the APR (possibly the fixed borrowing rate ), the amount of the monthly payment, the monthly cost of the optional insurance as well as its total amount over the term of the credit.
By going to the La Banque Postale website, this company also offers the possibility of carrying out a consumer credit simulation. The consumer will still be offered to choose the type of loan he wants (car, project, work), the desired monthly payment as well as the duration of the contract. A summary will then be generated of this consumer credit simulation. This will remind him of the amount of the loan (taking into account the interest excluding insurance), the monthly payment, the duration, the fixed borrowing rate and the APR, the amount excluding insurance, the administrative costs, the possible cost of the loan. insurance as well as its TAEA and its total cost. Various examples are also available on this site, allowing consumers to have a first idea of the consumer credit offers offered by this banking organization. During the consumer credit simulation, the site highlights two examples for the same financing, a car loan for the purchase of a new car for 8000 US dollars. The two examples differ in terms of the repayment period but also in terms of the APR. As stated previously, the shorter the repayment period, the more attractive the APR is for the borrower (and therefore the lower cost of credit). In the example, the consumer will see that for a car loan of 8000 US dollars, the latter will cost him 8043 US dollars, with an amortization over 12 months (monthly payment of 670.25 US dollars, APR of 1%) while the latter will cost him 8166 US dollars for amortization over 24 months (monthly payment of 340.25 US dollars, APR of 1.55%). In both cases, although the insurance rate varies with the duration of the loan, the monthly payment will remain the same, namely 5.33 US dollars per month, for death and disability insurance. However, since the credit will be made over a longer period, the cost of insurance will be twice as high.
To get an idea of the offers on the market, the consumer can perform a consumer credit simulation on the sites of competing establishments. This is the case with Crédit Agricole. The latter proposes to explain the different stages of the consumer credit simulation to the future borrower. This approach helps to build confidence in the borrower. The latter will then be able to perform his consumer credit simulation as well as, if he decides to subscribe to the credit in this establishment, his online contract request in full transparency. On this site, the consumer will therefore be reminded that a consumer credit simulation is free and that it does not commit him subsequently. Crédit Agricole subsequently informs that the borrower will have to fill in a certain amount of information as well as define his loan application (amount, repayment period, monthly payments). A summary will then be offered. The financing request will then be made according to the 3 steps that the institution takes care to recall: once the file is completed, the future borrower will be issued a response in principle, the offer will then be sent to him by post in the coming days. At this stage, an agent will be available to the consumer. The bank's website recalls that the withdrawal period is 14 days. The consumer can thus perform a consumer credit simulation. If the consumer wishes to borrow US $ 8,000 for the purchase of a vehicle, they will be asked for the duration of the credit and the department in which they are located (Crédit Agricole is a regional agency, so offers may vary depending on the agency and the region). In the event that the consumer lives in Paris and wishes to borrow over a period of 24 months, the consumer credit simulation will offer him a monthly payment of 348.35 US dollars with a total cost of credit of 8360.45 US dollars (including 280.45 US dollars and 80 US dollars of administration fees). The APR will be 4.35% and the fixed borrowing rate will be 3.30%. The insurance offered will be US $ 5.20 per month, or US $ 124.80 (TAEA of 1.52%). If the consumer decides to repay his capital over 12 months, the monthly payment will be 681.20 US dollars with a total cost of credit of 8174.39 US dollars (including 174.39 US dollars in interest, without administrative fees). The APR will then be 4.07% and the fixed borrowing rate will be 4%. Insurance will still be US $ 5.20 per month, for a total of US $ 62.40 per month (and an TAEA of 1.49%). The consumer will notice that when the credit is carried out over a longer period, the assistant organization of the administrative costs. These administrative fees once again allow the creditor to foresee a possible default by the consumer. The longer the credit is made, the greater the risks are for the lender.
By comparing these two banking organizations, it is possible to see that for the same credit, over 2 different repayment periods, several possibilities are available to the consumer. Generally the latter goes to his banking organization without taking into account the offers in other organizations. However, as the previous example shows, if the consumer is a Crédit Agricole customer, the latter will have every interest in going to Banque Postale. Indeed, whatever the duration of the repayment chosen, the offers of this bank are more advantageous, the APRs being lower and therefore the costs linked to the credit lower. In addition, La Banque Postale does not add administrative fees to the various loans it offers, regardless of the repayment period chosen.

In addition to banking organizations, there are other possibilities for consumers to finance their consumer credit.
The consumer credit simulation on the sites of specialized funding organizations
In United States, a large number of establishments specialize in consumer credit. Cetelem is one of the market leaders. When the consumer goes to the site, as for the sites of banking establishments, the possibility of carrying out a different consumption credit simulation according to his project is offered. In the case of the purchase of a car, the consumer for a credit of 8000 US dollars over 24 months, can subscribe to a consumer credit with a monthly payment of 340.96 US dollars. The loan will cost him in this case 8183.04 US dollars (including 183.04 US dollars in interest, without administration fees) with a fixed rate of 2.18% and an APR of 2.2%. The consumer should be wary, however. Indeed, it is specified on the site that these are monthly payments "from". When the latter is interested in the conditions, he will be able to notice that the APR can reach up to 4.41%. The loan will therefore cost him 8372.64 US dollars, with a monthly payment of 348.86 US dollars (and a total interest cost of 372.64 US dollars). To this credit, regardless of the APR, optional insurance will be offered at 8.55 US dollars, for a total cost of 205.20 US dollars (2.5% TAEA). In the event that the consumer chooses to make the same credit over a period of 12 months, the monthly payment would increase to 673.11 US dollars for a total cost of credit of 8077.32 US dollars (therefore 77.32 US dollars in interest, without administrative fees. ). The fixed rate would be in this case of 1.78% and the APR of 1.79%. Optional insurance will be US $ 11.71 per month, or US $ 140.52 for the full credit. Again, the consumer needs to be careful. The proposed APRs are the minimum APRs. These are likely to change during the completion of the credit agreement.
Other specialized organizations offer this type of consumer credit. This is the case with Sofinco. When the consumer visits this site, he will find the possibility of performing a consumer credit simulation equivalent to those of other sites offering a consumer credit simulation. After entering the project, the amount and the duration of the loan, the consumer will be redirected to a page summarizing the offer proposed by Sofinco. Thus, for the same type of credit, a car loan of 8000 US dollars, over a period of 12 months, this organization will offer the consumer monthly payments of 675.27 US dollars, with an APR of 2.4%, for a total amount of 8103.24 US dollars (i.e. 103.24 US dollars in interest, no administration fees). The insurance offered with this credit is US $ 10.35 per month. If the consumer chooses to take out this insurance, the credit will therefore revert to US $ 8227.44. For a credit over a period of more than 24 months, the consumer will be offered monthly payments of 343.36 US dollars with an APR of 2.9% (and a fixed lending rate of 2.862%) for a total amount of 8240.64 US dollars (or 240.64 US dollars). interest dollars, no administration fees). In this case, the insurance offered per month will be 10.35 US dollars. The credit will therefore come back to 8489.04 US dollars.

Performing a different consumer credit simulation on several websites can become long and tedious for the consumer. Sites specializing in credit comparisons thus offer the consumer to perform a consumer credit simulation for the same credit in order to lighten and facilitate the task.
Consumer credit simulation on sites specializing in credit comparisons.
Some sites specializing in consumer credit simulation offer consumers the opportunity to compare consumer credit offers, based on a consumer credit simulation.
When the consumer performs a consumer credit simulation on a specialized site, the latter must be aware that he is not using a banking organization or a credit organization. This site is an intermediary.
On sites carrying out a consumer credit simulation, consumers will be able to find different types of information. He can indeed perform a consumer credit simulation but also simulate the monthly repayment installments, the purchasing capacity, the debt ratio or even calculate the Global Effective Annual Rate.
On some sites, when the consumer chooses to perform a consumer credit simulation of the amount of monthly payments or even his purchasing capacity, he will first have to enter the type of project he wishes to finance (car loan, works, projects ), indicate the amount of the loan, the repayment period (in months), as well as the fixed APR (excluding insurance). The latter is offered to him by default (depending on the APR in force and the project he wishes to finance). Thus in the event that the consumer wishes to take out an auto loan of 8,000 US dollars for the purchase of a new car, reimbursable over a period of 12 months, the site will make two proposals to the consumer. In the first case, the consumer will be able to take out a loan with monthly payments of 480.05 US dollars over 17 months (during the simulation, it was indicated that the credit was desired for a period of 12 months), the APR is then 2.70% with a cost of credit of 160.92 US dollars.
