Berkshire Covid at latest as death on record and 122 new cases reported
Another patient has died in hospital after testing positive for Covid-19 in Berkshire and the number of new coronavirus cases in the county has risen again.
The death was registered with the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.
Official figures released by Public Health England today (June 10) show the number of positive cases has risen from the 76 new cases recorded yesterday to 122 in the past 24 hours.
Today’s figures show Reading has recorded the highest number of new cases, with 29 positive tests returned within 24 hours.
Wokingham and Bracknell Forest followed, with 28 and 23 cases, respectively.
Coronavirus infection rates have also increased in parts of the county, with Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead, Wokingham and Bracknell Forest all seeing an increase in their seven-day turnover rate.
Bracknell Forest continues to have the highest infection rate in the county with 97.9 cases per 100,000 population. This is almost double the national average, which stands at 50.3.
The government said seven more people died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 on Thursday, bringing the UK total to 127,867.
Separate figures released by the Office for National Statistics show that there have been 153,000 registered deaths in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
The government also said as of 9 a.m. Thursday there had been 7,393 more laboratory-confirmed cases in the UK.

- Bracknell Forest: 7,361 cases (+23)
- Reading: 11,422 cases (+29)
- Slough: 15,963 cases (+21)
- West Berkshire: 6,631 cases (+16)
- Windsor and Maidenhead: 8,641 cases (+5)
- Wokingham: 8,660 (+28)

How many people have been vaccinated against Covid?
Government data up to June 8 shows that of the 69,743,980 injections given in the UK so far, 40,886,878 were first doses – an increase of 176,559 the day before.
Some 28,857,102 were second doses, an increase of 316,258.
