Berkshire Covid at the latest as number of new cases halved in 24 hours
Nearly 600 new Covid infections were recorded in Berkshire today – less than half the number recorded in the region yesterday.
A total of 570 new cases were confirmed in the county today, up from 1,261 yesterday.

Reading had the fewest cases after registering just 79 new cases.
Today’s update brings the total number of cases in the county to 115,283.
No new Covid-related deaths have been recorded in the county, meaning the death toll remains at 1,516.
The government said 166 more people died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 on Saturday, bringing the UK total to 140,558.
Separate figures released by the Office for National Statistics show that there have been 165,000 registered deaths in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
At 9 a.m. on Saturday, there had been 41,278 other laboratory-confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the UK, the government said.
A total of 49,922,090 first doses of the Covid-19 vaccine had been delivered to the UK as of October 29, an increase of 39,186 the day before, according to government figures.
Some 45,672,948 second doses were delivered, an increase of 21,726.
A combined total of 7,564,423 booster and third doses were also delivered, for a daily increase of 270,785.
Separate totals for booster doses and third doses are not available.
