Wendy got the chance to make her wish to pet an owl come true at the Feathers and Fur Falconry Center

Submitted by Bluebird Care

Bluebird Care Windsor, Maidenhead and Bracknell in Berkshire recently granted their first wish in a new campaign.

The leading home care provider has launched the new initiative, dubbed ‘Genie in a Bottle’, to make the wishes of the clients under their care come true.

The Heartwarming Campaign was introduced with the goal of giving back to customers who have faced an extremely difficult time over the past year.

Following a random draw of greeting cards from clients, friends and family over the past few months, Bluebird Care Windsor, Maidenhead and Bracknell client Wendy was given the chance to fulfill his wish to stroke an owl.

Along with her care assistant, Becky Underwood, Wendy visited the Feathers and Fur Falconry Center, just outside Bracknell, Berkshire on June 4. Home to a fantastic collection of birds of prey including owls, hawks and hawks, Wendy had the opportunity to take advantage of her wish.

Reflecting on this wonderful experience, Wendy said, “It was lovely, interesting and I really had fun. Thanks, Paige, that was great.

Becky Underwood, Wendy’s Care Assistant, added: “I loved Feathers and Fur, it was such a beautiful day. The owls were so pretty up close.

Behind the introduction of the innovative campaign was Bluebird Care Windsor, Maidenhead and Bracknell Care Supervisor Paige Cotterell.

When asked what inspired the idea, she said: “Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic we have tried to give our customers and caregivers a little positive boost with flowers, Christmas presents and Valentine’s Day gifts, but we wanted to take the next step by recognizing and appreciating our clients and caregivers.

“As I dated some of my clients during times of lockdown, the thing I kept hearing them say was ‘I wish.’ The lockdown was tough on all of us, but I can only imagine how difficult it must have been for our clients who were isolated from their loved ones.

“It triggered a thought in me that I just ‘wish’ I could make their wishes come true. Until I realized that maybe I could. I decided to take our campaign of wishes to the team for see if we could use it in a way that boosts morale and positivity. ”

Bluebird Care Windsor, Maidenhead and Bracknell hope to continue the campaign and further fulfill the wishes of their clients. If a local business or individual would like to support the home care provider in their efforts, please contact 01189 863552 to get involved.
