ISG wins £40m for Maidenhead office redevelopment

ISG was brought in to bring a four-story 112,000 square foot office to Cat A standard and build a two-story extension to create an additional 21,500 square feet of space.
The Star House building was once the headquarters of the mobile phone company Three (or 3) but is renamed Tempo by L&G.
The Tempo project prioritizes conservation and reuse principles over a complete demolition and new build approach, ISG said, to create one of the greenest buildings in the Thames Valley. Most of the existing stone exterior of the former Three building will be retained, but a new glazed facade will be added.
The objective is a BREEAM Excellent and EPC A rating and net zero carbon operation, with a total building energy consumption of 130 kWh/m² (GIA) per year. Energy will come from 5,000 square feet of rooftop solar panels and air source heat pump technology.
Richard Skone, Regional Director of ISG’s Construction business, said: “The Tempo project will demonstrate the best working spaces and amenities that can be provided through an approach to renovating existing buildings, repurposing and improving what is there to minimize embodied carbon and maximize continued operational energy efficiency for its occupants.
