Latest Berkshire Covid: 117 new cases reported as daily UK infection figure exceeds 11,000
More than 100 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Berkshire for an extra day in the latest figures.
According to the latest figures released by Public Health England today (Thursday, June 17), there have been 31 other positive Covid tests in Reading alone in the past 24 hours.
This brings the total number of positive cases in the city to 11,620 since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
Bracknell Forest and Wokingham have also seen an increase in Covid cases over the past day with 23 and 22 positive tests respectively.
A total of 117 new Covid-19 infections have been reported in Berkshire since Wednesday.

The government said as of 9 a.m. Thursday there had been 11,007 more laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK, the largest single-day increase since February 19 and the first time that reported cases exceeded 10,000 in one day. since February 22.
The government also said 19 more people died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 on Thursday, bringing the UK total to 127,945.
Separate figures released by the Office for National Statistics show that there have been 153,000 registered deaths in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

Here are the latest seven-day rolling coronavirus infection rates per 100,000 people for the week ending June 12:
- Reading: 106.9 (from 99.5 )
Windsor and Maidenhead: 35.7 (instead of 33.7)
Swamp: 78.2 (instead of 82.3)
Bracknell Forest: 75.9 (instead of 80)
Wokingham: 74.2 (instead of 76.7)
West Berkshire: 32.8 (instead of 30.9)

- Reading: 11,620 cases (+31)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 8,712 cases (+16)
Slough: 16,058 cases (+13)
Bracknell Forest: 7,452 cases (+23)
Wokingham: 8,778 (+22)
- West Berkshire: 6,705 cases (+12)

How many people have been vaccinated against Covid?
Government data up to June 16 shows that of the 72,891,861 injections given in the UK so far, 42,216,654 were first doses – an increase from 195,565 the day before.
Some 30,675,207 were second doses, an increase of 234,834.
