M4 closures this weekend near Slough and Maidenhead
Drivers traveling on the Berkshire section of the M4 face delays this weekend as smart motorway works continue.
Although there is no full closure in either direction, the westbound carriageway between Junction 6 for Slough and Junction 8/9 for Maidenhead will be closed for the entire weekend.
The closure, which is part of the national highways project, is due to begin at 4 a.m. on Saturday March 12 and the highway is expected to reopen at 6 a.m. on Monday March 14.

Drivers are advised to plan their journeys and find alternative routes where possible. All traffic will be diverted from the M4 at Junction 6 and must follow a signed diversion via the A355, A308 and A308M.
Throughout the weekend, the eastbound carriageway towards London will remain open.
The Smart Motorway works between Reading and Maidenhead from Junction 12 to Junction 8/9 are now complete. The 50mph speed restriction has been removed and all four lanes operate with varying speed limits. There is no emergency stop, but drivers can use one of 29 emergency points.
M4 weekend closures in March
Saturday March 12 – Monday March 14: M4 closure junction 6 – 8/9. Westbound roadway only, closed between 4am Saturday and 6am Monday. The eastbound road remains open.
Saturday March 26 – Monday March 28. Closure of M4 Junction 8/9-6: Eastbound carriageway only, closed between 4am Saturday and 6am Monday. The westbound roadway remains open.
