M4 roadworks this weekend with closure near Slough

Drivers face delays as a seven-mile stretch of the M4 is closed this weekend. The road works are part of the ongoing smart highway project, which is due to be completed later this year.
The M4 will be closed in both directions between Junction 8/9 for Maidenhead and Junction 6 for Slough from Friday evening (20 May) until the early hours of Monday morning (23 May). A short stretch of freeway at Junction 3 will also be closed Friday night.
National road workers will continue their work to transform the highway into four traffic lanes with hard stops instead of a hard shoulder. From 11pm on Friday evening the westbound M4 at Junction 3 for Hayes, will be closed between the exit and entrance slip roads.

The road is due to reopen at 6 a.m. the following morning. A detour will be in place and the eastbound roadway will remain open during this time.
The two-way closure between Junction 8/9 and Junction 6 will see drivers diverted from the M4 from 10pm on Friday, with the road due to reopen at 6am on Monday. The diversion will take drivers onto the A355, A308 and A308M or this route in reverse.
Motorists have been urged to allow extra time for their journeys and to plan alternative routes where possible. There is no scheduled closure of the M4 between Friday 27th May and Monday 30th May.
