Newbury students had a big surprise thanks to the good donation “bear” from a developer

Students in Newbury, Berkshire attended the Teddy Bear Picnic Day on July 10 after an ‘unbearable’ donation from local home builder David Wilson Homes.
The Château school received 37 teddy bears for the children during the picnic.
Teddy Bear Picnic Day is a whimsical annual celebration of the stuffed toys of our childhood, based on the popular children’s song “The Teddy Bear Picnic”.
The music for this song was first written in 1907 by American composer John W. Bratton before British songwriter Jimmy Kennedy added the lyrics in 1930.
Jayne Tomlinson, Fundraiser at The Castle School, said: “We were delighted to accept the teddy bear donation from David Wilson Homes and the kids love them.
“We are so grateful that we were thought of for the gift and the kids really enjoyed the picnic with their fuzzy new friends.”
The day’s event allowed the kids to picnic, play games and have fun with their new bears, which they were then able to take home.
Rob Allen, Sales Manager at David Wilson Homes Southern, said: “The pandemic has had an impact on the social events and parties that young children should normally experience, so we hope the children at The Castle School had a great time. good time during their teddy bear ‘Picnic.
