Opening of a new Mortimer cooperative running on 100% renewable electricity
Mortimer is expected to open a new Co-op store tomorrow (November 26) with 14 new local jobs.
The store opening is an investment of Â£ 930,000 in the area and is located on Victoria Road.
Covering an area of âânearly 3,000 square feet, the convenience store runs on 100% renewable electricity and will open every day from 7 am to 10 pm.

The local has a bakery, serves hot food and has an Everground coffee machine – Co-op branded Fairtrade hot chocolate, coffee and tea.
The shop also mentions a focus on âfresh and healthy products, meal ideas, take-out meals, award-winning wines, ready-made meals and pizzas, free, vegan and plant-based products and everyday essentialsâ.
In the store there are automatic scanning tills and outside there is a parking lot for customers. There’s also an on-site ATM free for guests to use.
Mortimer students who are holders of the TOTUM card – the new name of NUS extra – also get a 10 percent discount at the cooperative.
