WEST NEWBURY – Superintendent Justin Bartholomew announced Friday that the Pentucket Regional School District is running two vaccination clinics for middle and high school students with the goal of vaccinating at least 80% of students.

The clinics will be held at Pentucket Regional Middle School, 20 Main Street, for all students in the district aged 12 and older, Bartholomew said in a press release.

The first dose clinic will be on Thursday, September 9 from 8:30 am to 11:30 am, and the second dose clinic will be held on Thursday, September 30 from 8:30 am to 11:30 am Students under the age of 18 will be administered . the Pfizer vaccine, which is cleared for emergency use by the Food and Drug Administration for people 12 to 15 years of age. The Pfizer vaccine recently received full FDA approval for people 16 years of age and older.

Students aged 18 and older will have the option of receiving the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine, Bartholomew said.

Parents and guardians are not required to come to the clinic, but they must complete a registration form to have their child vaccinated. Registration takes about 10 minutes and can be done on a computer, mobile phone, tablet or other smart device. Health insurance is not compulsory. Parents and guardians should consult their child’s doctor for any other questions.

“We are happy to provide our students with an easy and convenient way to get the COVID-19 vaccine, and we encourage anyone who is eligible to participate,” Bartholomew said. “Immunizing our students will help us keep everyone in the school community safe, bringing us closer to a more normal school year.
