PETER ANTELL Obituary (1948 – 2021) – Boston, MA
Peter is survived by his wife Joanna (Bree) Antell of Ancram, NY; Brother Joseph Antell husband of Karen (Point) Antell of Kennbunk, ME; sister Heather (Antell) Abed wife of Haytham Abed of Santa Barbara, CA; nephews Skip Abed his wife Jenny (Stone) Abed, Seaph Antelmi, Tarek Abed his wife Julie Ann (Jackson) Abed, Joshua Dunham Antell husband of Eileen (Santiago) Antell; and her great-nieces and grand-nephew, Leif, Hala, GiGi, Siena and Sasha.
Peter Antell was appointed Deputy District Attorney in the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office (circa 1975) and served in both the Major Offenders Division and the Grand Jury Division. Peter’s interest, enthusiasm, dedication and sense of humor had no limits. There was no task too trivial, too long, too difficult, or too complicated for him. Its reward has been the opportunity to work with and learn from experienced professionals.
With the change of administration, (circa 1979) Peter Antell left the office of the public prosecutor. He was appointed Senior Staff Attorney of the City of Boston, Office of Corporation Counsel. Now Peter has represented the City of Boston and served as General Counsel, responsible for matters relating to civil rights, personal injury, contracts, estates and property tax. After several years as General Counsel, Assistant Legal Counsel, Peter left and opened his own private law firm at 140 Newbury Street, Boston. With his vast experience in both criminal and civil litigation, Antell & Associates is where he really made his mark as a litigator. Peter cared deeply for Newbury Street, Back Bay and was a strong advocate for their businesses and residents. Peter was a member of the Ancient & Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts.
In 2000, Peter and Joanna purchased a picturesque piece of farmland in Ancram, NY. There they developed the property together and built a wonderful house and farm, which they named Two Arrows Farm. Peter’s time at Two Arrows with Joanna and their three dogs brought him unparalleled peace and joy. On December 4, 2021, at age 73, Peter Antell passed away peacefully in his bed in Two Arrows, surrounded by his wife and dogs.
Peter’s viewing hours in Massachusetts will be on Thursday, December 9, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Ernest P. Caggiano & Son Funeral Home, 147 Winthrop Street, WINTHROP. Viewing hours in New York will be Saturday, December 11, 2021, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 Route 22, in COPAKE. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021, starting at 10:30 a.m. at Sainte-Cécile Parish, 18 Belvidere Street, Boston, Massachusetts.
