Reading named ‘second best city’ for mobile phone coverage in the South East

Reading has been named as the town with the second best mobile phone coverage in the South East – according to a mobile phone retailer. Fonehouse claims the town of Berkshire won the accolade – beating such formidable competitors as Medway and Milton Keynes.
Fonehouse analyzed data from Ofcom’s Connected Nations 2021 report and used coverage verification tools on Three, Vodafone, EE and O2 websites. 3G, 4G and 5G services were assessed alongside voice and data services.
Reading secured 25th place overall in the UK, with the mobile phone retailer saying it has proven to have strong coverage across all the different factors. One of the main reasons Reading scored so well was apparently the massive rollout of 5G services. In 2019 it was selected as one of the first sites in the UK to receive 5G.

Fonehouse CEO Ben Branson said, “Mobile networks are constantly evolving and improving over the years as more networks install masts across the country, improving range and quality. mobile coverage. Even so, there are still areas where coverage is lower than others because rollout has been hampered by the availability of technology.
“5G has come a long way since its first release, with a much wider range of compatible handsets, available areas and networks offering it. The latest devices with newer 5G chipsets, such as the iPhone 13 and the Samsung Galaxy S22 will benefit from the rapid network rollout for 5G across the UK.
