Roadworks in Reading – roads to avoid this weekend
Many of us spend too many hours in the week commuting to and from work in a sea of traffic – making it the last thing we need for a weekend.
Drivers have been warned of many areas where road works are planned and could cause delays.
Road works appear to be popping up all around Reading currently with a lot of earthworks going on.
To make your life a little easier for the weekend, we’ve rounded up the roads and areas most likely to experience delays based on local traffic flows.
The Meadway, Tilehurst – CityFibre is carrying out work in progress which should take place from June 25 to August 10. Multi-directional traffic lights are in place which could cause delays.
Tilehurst Road, Tilhurst – CityFibre is also carrying out work which will take place from May 27 to June 29 on Tilehurst Road. Multi-directional traffic lights are in place which could cause delays.
Water Road, Tilehurst – Further CityFibre work at Water Road from May 11 to June 30, again multi-directional signals are expected to cause delays.
Oxford Road, Tilehurst – Road works at Oxford Road for CityFibre are scheduled to run from 23 June to 25 July at Beecham Road, and further afield at Albany Road through 16 July. Multi-directional traffic lights will be in place this weekend at both points.
Castle Hill, West Reading – Thames Water is currently under construction at Castle Hill, which has caused delays throughout the past week. The work is expected to last until July 3 and a lane is closed as a result.
Crown Street, Coley – Thames Water is also working on an area of Crown Street and as a result the road is completely closed. The work is scheduled to take place from June 27 to 30.
Market square, central reading – More and more waterworks are disrupting areas of central Reading with a road closure at Market Place. Thames Water is expected to be on site until July 7.
Sidmouth Street, reading – Reading Borough Council road crews are undergoing “unclassified” roadworks on Sidmouth Street. These will take place from June 27 to July 26.
London Road, reading – One lane would be closed for ongoing HSE work on London Road until July 9.
Loddon Bridge Road, Woodley – Multi-lane traffic control signals are expected to cause delays at Woodley this weekend. SGN is modernizing the gas network and therefore work is expected to take place at Loddon Bridge Road from June 21 to August 31.
Lane Sandford, Hurst – Thames Water has closed the road and a diversion is in place to allow water works. The road works should last until July 1.
A33 Relief Road, Reading – Reading Brough City Council is undertaking ‘street furniture work’ and as a result there is a lane closure on the A33. These are expected to last until July 31 as work progresses along the roadway.
Reading path, Winnersh – Wokingham Borough Council is undertaking work on the North Wokingham Distributor Road and Winnersh Relief Road works. Multidirectional signals must be put in place and work should continue until February 28, 2022.
