Satellite images show damage to airfield in eastern Ukraine
A satellite image that appears to show damage to an airfield in eastern Ukraine was shared by an Earth observation company the day Russia launched an attack on its neighbour.
US company Planet, which says it “processes and distributes an almost daily global stream of satellite data”, shared photos of an airfield in Chuhuiv on Twitter on Thursday afternoon.

It says the first image shows an air base at Chuhuiv in Ukraine on Monday, while a second image showing smoke rising from the ground was taken on Thursday.
“Latest news from Chuhuiv Air Base in Ukraine. Images captured Feb 21 and today Feb 24, 2022,” Planet tweeted.
The company said the images were captured by its SkySat fleet of high-resolution satellites.
