Six teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man suffered a fatal head injury.

The 35-year-old has died following reports of an assault in the Romsey Close neighborhood of Cramlington, a small town near Newcastle, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Northumbria ambulance teams and police were called to the scene shortly after 1 a.m., and the man was rushed to hospital but died on Sunday.

His family has been informed and is supported by specialist officers.

Northumbria Police have launched a murder investigation into the incident and arrested six men, all aged 16 or 17.

Detectives encouraged all witnesses to come forward, as well as any motorists who may have footage of the dashcam.
