Slough Nurse Honored With Outstanding Student Of The Year

A district nurse from Slough has received a prestigious award for her work in the NHS.
Shavonne Harvey, who recently graduated from Bucks New University, was nominated by the Queen’s Nursing Institute for the National Outstanding Student of the Year Award, during her studies.
She has since won the award.

Shavonne has been a nurse for almost a decade.
Shavonne said, âAfter two years as a Community Staff Nurse, I started the one-year Specialist Practitioner District Nursing Course in Bracknell. I then returned to Slough as a qualified district nurse.

âEven though I didn’t get great grades in college, I worked really hard. My speaker said she came to me because of my resilience and because I was the most improved student.
âThe course is very difficult but you just have to be super organized. Even with young children, it is doable.
“I would love to be prescribing and aiming to be a Queen’s Nurse, but most of all, I want to be able to teach and help others.”
