Comment: A week after winning the Division 1 CIF-Southern Section individual title, the senior led a 1-2-3-4 victory for the Panthers at the CIF-State Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Woodward Park in Fresno. Sahlman won the Division 1 individual title in 14 minutes, 26.5 seconds as Newbury Park put on a record performance winning their third state championship in four years. The Panthers broke Thousand Oaks 28-year-old record for the lowest score in the state meet with a 16 and also became the first team to win Division 1 in triple digits, beating Great Oak, 16- 119. Newbury Park’s top three runners – Sahlman, Leo Young and Lex Young – broke the previous Division 1 individual time record of 14:43.

Sport: Cross country
Comment: The rookie placed second in the Women’s Division 2 race at the CIF-State Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Woodward Park in Fresno. Engelhardt’s time of 16: 58.7 broke the school record and also put her in elite company as she became the second rookie to break the 17-minute mark in the D competition. ‘State. Simi Valley legend Sarah Baxter won her state title in 2010 with a time of 16:57.
