Another 214 cases of coronavirus have been identified in Berkshire in the past 24 hours through Tuesday (July 6).

The latest information made available by Public Health England shows that there are now 62,491 positive tests identified in the county since the start of the pandemic last year.

The biggest one-day peak across Berkshire in the past day was in Bracknell Forest, where 46 more cases of the coronavirus were found until 9 a.m. today.

The second highest was in Windsor and Maidenhead, where 36 more cases were identified.

The smallest increase was recorded in Slough, where there were 31 more cases. There are now 16,493 cases of covid in the region since the start of the pandemic.

Although new cases are identified every day in the region, rates of coronavirus infection have continued to decline in Slough and Wokingham.

Nationally, at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, there had been 28,773 more laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK, the government said.

The government said 37 more people died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday, bringing the UK total to 128,268.

This is the highest daily figure of deaths within 28 days of a positive test since April 23, when 40 were reported.

Separate figures released by the Office for National Statistics show that there have been 153,000 registered deaths in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

Government data up to July 5 shows that of the 79,302,857 Covid injections administered in the UK so far, 45,428,681 were first doses – an increase of 76,962 the day before.

Some 33,874,176 were second doses, an increase of 147,814.
