Property owners in our area have been busy requesting improvements to their homes this week.

Plans include converting a bungalow into a semi-detached house in Sandhurst, a gymnasium for wealthy farm owners, and building a replacement house in Arborfield.

Also, the owners of a mansion have asked to renovate the kitchen and do other work.

Extensions and divisions to create two houses in Sandhurst (21/00984 / FUL)

The owners of 52 Branksome Hill in Sandhurst have asked for major work to be done on their bungalow to convert it into a semi-detached house.

The house currently has two bedrooms, a toilet and a bathroom, a kitchen, a living room and a veranda.

The owners want to make a major change to the bungalow to create a semi-detached house, which involves building a single-storey part, a two-storey extension part and subdividing the house.

Oddly enough, they did not file a request to demolish their current house, but a garage and an outbuilding will be razed so that the transformation can take place.

When completed, the two properties of the house will each have three double bedrooms, one of which is en suite, a bathroom with toilet and the kitchen and the usual living facilities on the ground floor (which will also have a toilet).

There would be two parking spaces each for the occupants.

Demolition of a hut to create a home gym at Cranbourne Farm (21/01006 / FUL)

The owners of Poplar Farm in Cranbourne have applied to demolish a farm hut and replace it with a home gym.

The gymnasium building itself will be a modern replica of the hut being demolished, according to the design and access statement submitted in the plan.

The new gym will be state-of-the-art and will have two floors, with exercise equipment and a downstairs shower room and a yoga / pilates studio on the first floor.

The gym app is part of the larger development of Poplars Farm.

In 2018, the developers obtained authorization to build a new house on the site, which is currently under construction (reference 18/01034 / FUL).

A separate application for another new home at Poplars Farm was submitted in October (reference 21/01005 / FUL).

Replacing a three bedroom house with a four bedroom house in Arborfield (Wokingham app 213695)

The owners of Old Gamekeepers Cottage in Milkingbarn Lane, Arborfield, have requested the replacement of the existing three-bedroom house with a four-bedroom house.

This would involve demolishing the current house and a garage so that the new larger house can be built in its place.

A planning statement prepared for the application indicates that the current house is “not very suitable for modern family accommodation” due to its “cramped nature” and being “poorly designed and furnished”.

The new house would have our double bedrooms, two with en-suite bathrooms, a family bathroom and a small home office.

The Old Gamekeepers Cottage is in the Farley Farms & Estate, owned by Viscount Bearsted, who lives in Farley Hall.

The planning statement says the cabin was owned by the game warden, who has since moved elsewhere in Arborfield.

New kitchen for manor house in Shinfield (Wokingham app 213687)

The owner of Cutbush Manor in Shinfield has applied to renovate his kitchen, replace a chimney pot and do work on the house’s gutters.

They claim that the kitchen, last renovated in 2004, is “in poor condition” and want to replace the chipboard units and worktops with solid oak units and a new worktop.

Cutbush Manor is a Grade II listed farmhouse dating back to the 16th century.

Due to its classified status, the owner had to submit a heritage declaration with the request describing the impact the work may have on the character of the house.
