Veronica Frione Obituary (2021) – North Haven, CT
Veronica “Ronnie” Sikorski Frione
Veronica “Ronnie” Sikorski Frione, 91, of North Haven passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. She was the beloved wife of the late Eugene “Gene” Frione. Veronica was born in New Haven on June 19, 1930 and was predeceased by her parents Antoni and Julia Sikorski. Veronica graduated from Commercial High School in 1948 and went on to work at New Haven Savings Bank. The little detail of the work history is important because as she got on the bus to work, she met her devoted husband, Gene. She is survived by her daughters Rhonda Manware (Albert) of Branford and Elizabeth Strilbyckij (Hans) of North Haven; granddaughters Kelly Marshall (Gerry Celano) of Newbury, MA and Erica Strilbyckij of Milford; and great-granddaughter Elle Celano of Newbury, MA. Veronica’s favorite things to do were dinner and card games at her family’s homes. She has always loved playing board games (from Candy Land to Scrabble) with her granddaughters, and she played to win! She loved game shows like Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Years later, she was still playing board games with her great-granddaughter Elle. Veronica loved to play the piano and listen to classical music. She loved going to Foxwoods Casino with her husband Gene, where she occasionally had a lucky winning streak, which she shared with everyone. Although Veronica did not travel often, when she did go on trips, she thoroughly enjoyed the experience. She and Gene enjoyed visiting their granddaughter Kelly at college in Northampton, MA, and later at her home in Boston, MA. She has become an expert in tourism. Veronica enjoyed her granddaughter Erica’s travels from her home in North Haven and was especially thrilled to receive precious Christmas presents from Scotland. Veronica’s family would like to thank her caregivers, Sylwia, Beata and Julia, who provided exceptional care, compassion and commitment. They also wish to thank Guilford VNA and Hospice, and Broadway Medical Group (especially Julie and Vanessa) who have given the utmost attention and respect to Veronica’s well-being. Funeral services are private. Instead of flowers, please consider acts of kindness, especially for the elderly and the disabled in memory of Veronica. The Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven has been responsible for the arrangements. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
