Virtual reality imagery of Slough’s story comes to life
SLOUGH was chosen to be part of an augmented and virtual 3D time travel storytelling experience celebrating the city’s history.
StoryTrails, is part of UNBOXED: Creativity in the UK, a groundbreaking national celebration of creativity in 2022.
StoryTrails will bring untold stories from the past to life through the magic of the 3D Internet using augmented and virtual reality to bring public spaces to life across the UK, creating a free, fun and fun family experience.
He will only visit 15 locations across the UK, including Slough in September 2022.

The Slough Council Library Service will participate in the project, which will see the public travel through time through the wonders of these new technologies to uncover untold local stories where they actually happened.
StoryTrails needs people from the Slough area to tell their stories, so they are recruiting creative talent to lead the project.
Creative professionals interested in new technologies such as 3D modeling software, game engines, augmented and virtual reality are encouraged to apply now. Full training will be provided as well as access to advanced equipment, production support and production credits for the job.

Once the creatives of StoryTrails find and develop the stories, audiences will be taken through an immersive tour of Slough as he explores these stories through virtual and augmented reality similar to Pokemon Go and via a series of installations. .
People will be able to experience the story where it actually happened by entering the virtual story portal guided by a free mobile app, using a mix of mind-blowing augmented reality experiences that remix archival films.
Participants will also be immersed in a virtual map of their region, made up of 3D models and audio stories captured on location, encouraging audiences to connect and experience their region in unimaginable ways.
StoryTrails is directed by StoryFutures Academy and produced in partnership with the British Film Institute, broadcaster and filmmaker David Olusoga. It will use cutting edge technology from Niantic, the makers of Pokemon Go.
