When Ant and Dec, Hugh Grant, David Tennant and Other Celebs Were Spotted in Quirky Places in Berkshire

Many celebrities choose to live in Berkshire because of its close ties to London and the beautiful countryside scenery.
However, sometimes celebrities are spotted in places you wouldn’t expect.
Hugh Grant, for example, was spotted soliciting the Labor Party in Reading in 2019.

Other celebrities were spotted at the John Nike Leisure Sports Center in Bracknell – a venue more synonymous with Ali G than where you’d expect to find a Hollywood star to hang out with.
BerkshireLive has taken a look at some of the most unusual places celebrities have been spotted in our county.

Hugh Grant was spotted canvassing for Labor in Reading in 2019.
Hugh had canvassed the Lib Dems in London and then helped Labor in the city.
At the time, he said he had no political affiliation but thought everything should be done to stop a Tory majority.
The actor joined campaigners working with Labor candidate Rachel Eden and they spoke to people in Oxford Road ahead of the general election, which took place on Thursday December 12, 2019.
Sajid Javid and even former Prime Minister Theresa May have also been spotted campaigning in Reading.

David Tennant was spotted in Bracknell in 2014.
He was thought to have filmed for Broadchurch, although an ITV spokeswoman said she was unable to confirm whether the filming was for the BAFTA-nominated crime drama.
The Doctor Who star and Olivia Coleman were spotted at John Nike Leisuresport and Jennett’s Park.
Tennant was also spotted in Broad Street, Wokingham, in September 2021.
The road was closed for a day to allow filming of a new drama also starring American actor Stanley Tucci.
The show was created by Steven Moffat and his wife Sue Vertue and will air on the BBC and Netflix.

Ant and Dec
In June 2021, Ant McPartlin traveled to Berkshire with Dec for a bachelor party celebration.
The pre-wedding celebrations apparently took place at Bearwood Lakes Golf Course in Sindlesham, Berkshire.
According to the Daily Mail, sources claimed he had “the time of his life at his bachelor party, where the Saturday Night Takeaway host enjoyed 18 holes of golf and a foursome lunch dishes”.
Ant and Dec were also spotted several times at Ascot Racecourse where they enjoyed watching the horse races.

George Clooney
While it is not unusual for celebrities to move to Berkshire, it is unusual to see a high profile Hollywood celebrity in the county.
George Clooney moved to Sonning with his wife Amal and bought the magnificent Grade II listed Alberlash Manor, nestled on a four-acre island in the River Thames.
Apparently, Clooney first heard of the village when he filmed a movie there in 2014 called The Monuments Men.
The pair were also spotted strolling in Sonning, and the actor was spotted having a drink at The Bull pub.
