Mother’s Day has passed, and now on the horizon is Father’s Day. Father’s Day arises shortly after Mothering Sunday.
It is a day that salutes fathers, grandfathers and father figures. The day sees young children climbing onto their father figure’s beds armed with cards and gifts for them.
However, although the annual celebration takes place around the same time every year, some people manage to miss the date or have to buy last minute for their dads. So to help you avoid disappointing your dad and keep you from getting into the wrong books, here’s everything you need to know.

When is Father’s Day in 2022?
Father’s Day falls on Sunday June 19 this year in the UK. Unfortunately, there is no public holiday for the annual celebration.
Father’s Day has been celebrated among European Catholics since the Middle Ages, but was originally celebrated on St. Joseph’s Day (March 19) with a feast. America was one of the first nations to make Father’s Day a public holiday.
The tradition was started by a woman called Sonora Smart Dodd. It is understood she came up with the idea in 1909, when she challenged the fact that there was no annual fathers day.
Sonora launched a campaign that began in 1910. Millions of people now celebrated Father’s Day, but it wasn’t until 1972, thanks to President Nixon, that it became a national holiday.
Father’s Day then became a similar image to Halloween and the UK followed suit.
