When will the 429 apartment scheme in Maidenhead be completed?

A DEVELOPER of the large 429 apartment project in Maidenhead town center has revealed when he expects the development to be completed.

The 3.5-acre site between Queen Street and Broadway, known as The Landing, is currently being redeveloped into apartments, shops, parking, offices and public realm after receiving planning permission in 2019.

After a shaky start and development delays, the land was finally laid last December to deliver the first phase, which is being carried out by contractor JJ Rhatigan & Company, to erect the 429 apartments, six retail units and a majority of the public domain.

Speaking at a Maidenhead town forum, Victoria Manston, head of development at HUB – the developer of the scheme – revealed that the first phase is due to be completed in February 2024.

Public domain work on the site, where people can work from east to west across the site, is expected to be delivered by October of the same year.

Currently, the development can be seen springing up above the palisade erected around the site. Ms Marston said Rhatigan is “moving forward” with development to ensure it is delivered on time.

She said: “We are very pleased that progress has started locally and the project is coming to fruition and should be a great addition to the town centre.”

When completed, all flats will be for rent and will be owned and managed by Get Living, which is one of the largest construction to let operators in the UK.

For retail units, Ms Marston said HUB is considering two restaurants, two light food and beverage cafes and two stores, but is subject to change.

However, she said it was “a bit early” in the building program to give all of the specific retailers and restaurants that will move into the site when completed. An update on this could be given next year.

The meeting took place on Thursday, March 17.
