Wokingham Council offers support to German twin city following heavy flooding
THE COUNCILORS urge residents to donate to sister city of Wokingham in Germany after flooding devastated the area.
Erftstadt, a German town twinned with Wokingham since 1977, has been particularly affected by recent flooding across the country.

Wokingham City Council launched an appeal to help the German town earlier this week, saying the area is receiving immediate aid and supplies, but major repair work is still needed in the town.
Town Mayor Cllr Tony Lack said: “As mayor of the town, I am writing to Carolin Weitzelk, Mayor of Erftstadt, to offer our support, love and condolences to the people of Wokingham.
“I know many of you are desperately wondering what we can do to help, so I’m glad we now have this information to share with you.
“I was moved by the way our community contacted others about this; thank you to all who have been in contact to show your concern and to those of you who include those concerned in your prayers. hope. ”

So far, the international fundraising appeal for the people of Erftstadt has raised a total of € 61,874 of € 100,000 goal (£ 53,517.84 of £ 86,494.88 goal) .
