Wokingham fireworks raised £ 30,000 for local charities

Wokingham Fireworks Charitable Trust has raised over £ 30,000 for local charities through its annual fireworks display and donates £ 500 to the Wokingham Borough Mayor Cllr Keith Baker MBE charity, for his year as town hall – Chance to Dance Stars CIC.

Each year the Wokingham Fireworks Charitable Trust hosts a spectacular fireworks display at the Cantley Park Event Grounds and raises funds for good causes in and around the Borough of Wokingham. The event took place on Saturday 6 November 2021 and began with a torchlight procession from Wokingham Town Market Square, led by the San Sebastian Marching Band and various local dignitaries, followed by a memorable fireworks display .

Wokingham fireworks raised £ 30,000

The event raised over £ 30,000 for local Wokingham Borough charities and a raised proportion, £ 500, will be donated to Chance to Dance Stars CIC, a dance school for disabled students and their families. families in the local community.

Wokingham Borough Mayor Cllr Keith Baker MBE said: “I am delighted that Wokingham Fireworks Charitable Trust has chosen Chance to Dance Stars CIC as one of its good causes to support.

“On behalf of the Wokingham Borough Council, I would like to thank the Wokingham Fireworks Charitable Trust for this donation and congratulate them for all the good work they do. Thank you also to everyone who attended the fireworks display and made a donation.

Wokingham Fireworks Charitable Trust Chairman David Gold said: “The Trust is made up of members from 5 service clubs, Rotary, Lions and Unicorn. After last year’s forced absence, due to Covid restrictions, every effort has been made to restore this important fundraiser, in its thirty-second year, to its rightful place as one of the community events most popular in the city, with every penny collected going to deserving charities. Our thanks go both to the city and borough councils as well as to the entire community for the support received ”.
