WWI pistol and ammunition found in house renovation

A cache of weapons dating back more than a century has been unearthed in a house undergoing renovations.
The WWI pistol and various ammunition items were found in a Berkshire home and turned over to Thames Valley Police Specials for investigation.
The team of volunteer officers then called in the Joint Armed Response Team from Thames Valley and Hampshire to ensure the transport posed no risk to the public.
The Specials posted details of the find on their Twitter feed, writing, âWhat are your Specials @RBWM (Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead) doing?
âAlmost everything regulars do.
“Investigate this WWI pistol and various ammunition hidden in a house under renovation before enlisting @JOU_ArmedPolice’s help to ensure they were safe for transport and booking. “
The Specials support the community and regular officers in the Thames Valley Police Zone.
Last week, they reported on Twitter that in 2021, they performed just over 6,300 hours of service (about one week per month per agent) and attended just under 1,800 recorded incidents.
